Stop Nuclear Weapons!
On the anniversary of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, I am reminded of the death and environmental destruction that come with the use of nuclear weapons. Today, nuclear war is still the greatest threat to the human race aside from the looming threat of climate change. The Doomsday clock is at 2 minutes to midnight as of 2019, the closest it has ever been. Nuclear winter, worldwide death, and famine are the inevitable consequences of the use of these weapons, yet those in power keep their fingers on the triggers. Weapons manufacturers / war profiteers continue to develop more lethal versions of the already deadly devices, profiting immensely. Warhawks threaten and attack other countries, trying to prevent competition from other countries developing their oil and natural gas. They also play geopolitical games, trying to dominate the world.
Political tensions between the U.S., Russia, and other nuclear capable countries like Iran and North Korea constantly increase, with the U.S. withdrawal from the Iran Nuclear Deal the most recent provocation in the seemingly endless war in the middle east.
There are some things that we can do as citizens to help push back against nuclear war:
-Read more on how to divest from companies that produce nuclear weapons at: https://www.dontbankonthebomb.com/2019-producers-executive-summary/

-You can ask your city or pension plan to divest from the banks that make loans to these nuclear companies.
